Nach mba suimiúil an leagan cainte é sin              - isn't that an interesting turn of phrase

Ní chluinfidh tú ró-mhinic sin innuif, ach tá sé ann          - you wouldn't hear that too often these days, but it's still there

Ní héirim go ndéanann sé ciall ar bith             - it doesn't seem to me that it makes any sense

Mhair an Sean-Ghaeilge agus na seanleaganachaí Gaeilge agus na seanráitithí Gaeilge i bhfad i bhfad níos faide ná gur mhair siad in       áinteachaí eile, go mórmhor amach le cóstaí             - The old Irish and the old Irish expressions and sayings survived much much longer than in other places, particularly in coastal areas.

Tá na seanfhoclaí céanna le cluins go dtí an lá 'tá inniuf ann          - 

Those same old fashioned expressions are to be heard to this very day 

Bhainfí brí eile as sin a'chomh maith            - this had another meaning as well

Seó chuid dhe na seanleaganachaí cainte a bhí ann lenár linn fhéin                  - these are some of the old usages of the language that were around in our time

Lena thea'int go díreach an chaoi a mbíodh comhrá dhá dhéanamh dhe léir canúint na h-áinte seó san am caití             - to show clearly how people spoke in the local dialect in past times
